1. Hazrat Abu bakr (Radi Allahu Ta'ala):
Name: His name is Abdullah.
Titles: He is known as Abu Bakr and his titles are Siddique and Ateeq. He is from the Quraish tribe and in the seventh generation, his family tree links to that of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam).
Birth: He was born two and a half years after the Aamil Feel in Makkah.
About Him: He is so exalted, that he has been blessed with the greatest status in all the creation after the Ambia and Mursaleen. He was the first to accept Islam from amongst the free men. He fought in various battles and assisted the Muslims in all times. He was always beside the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). He had three sons and three daughters. He Khilafat lasted for 2 years, 3 months and 11 days.
Wisaal: He passed from this world on the 22nd of Jamadil Aakhir, 13 Hijri. Hazrat Umar (radi Allahu anhu) made his Janazah Salaah and he was made to rest beside the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) in the Rauza-e-Anwar.
2. Hazrat Umar (Radi Allahu Ta'ala):
Name: His name is Umar.
Titles: He is known as Abu Hafs and his title was Farouk. He is very exalted amongst the Quraish due to his family. In the eight generation, his family tree links to that of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam).
Birth: He was born 13 years after the Aamil Feel in Makkah.
About Him: He accepted Islam in the sixth year after the announcement of Nabuiwat at the age of 27. It is in one narration that before him 39 people had accepted Islam. After he accepted Islam, the Muslims were very pleased as he was a very brave and fearless person. After he accepted Islam, the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) openly lead Namaaz in the Kaaba. He always fought bravely in every battle. Like Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (radi Allahu anhu), he too was always with the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). Hazrat Abu Bakr (radi Allahu anhu) appointed him to be the Khalifa after him. He had six children, of which one was a daughter and all the others were sons. His Khilafat lasted for 10 years, 6 months and 4 days. On the 28th of Zilhajj, 23 Hijri, Abu Lulu Majoosi stabbed him with a dagger.
Wisaal: He passed away three days after this at the age of 63. His Janazah Salaah was prayed by Sayyiduna Suhaib (radi Allahu anhu) and was laid to rest close to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (radi Allahu anhu).
3. Hazrat Usman Ghani (Radi Allahu Ta'ala):
Name: His name is Uthman.
Titles: He is known as Abu Amr, and his title was Zulnurain.�
About Him: He is from the Quraish tribe. His family tree joins at Abd Munaaf, to that of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam).
He accepted Islam at the very beginning. His uncles and relatives treated him very badly and caused him much pain, when they heard that he had accepted Islam. He made Hijrat twice. Once, to Abyssinia and then to Makkah. It is for this reason, that he is also known As Saahibul Hijratain. He was blessed with marrying two daughters of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) and was thus given the title of Zul Nurain. Because his blessed wife was ill during the Battle of Badr, he could not partake in it, but his name was still put amongst those who were in Badr and he was given the spoils of war equal to the others. After the shahaadat of Hazrat Umar (radi Allahu anhu), he was appointed the Khalifa. His Khilafat lasted for 12 years.
His Wisaal: His home was surrounded by the Traitors of Egypt and he was made shaheed at the age of 82. His Janazah Namaaz was performed by Hazrat Zubair bin Awaam (radi Allahu anhu) and he was laid to rest in Jannatul Baqi (Madinah Shareef)
4. Hazrat Ali (Radi Allahu Ta'ala):
Name: His name is Ali and is known as Abul Hassan and Abu Turab and his titles are Murtuza, Asadullah and Haidar-e-Kar'raar. His father was Abu Taalib and grandfather Abdul Mutallib. Abu Taalib is the uncle of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). His mother=s name was Fathima bint Asad, bin Haashim, bin Abd Munaaf. Her Janazah was performed by Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), and gave his blessed Qameer (Kurta) to be used as her kaffan (shroud). He prepared her grave and first he himself laid down in her grave, so that it will be comfortable for her in the grave, and so that she may be adorned in the Garb of Jannat. [Noorul Absaar].
Birth: When Hazrat Ali (radi Allahu anhu) was in the womb of his mother, then she used to see astonishing dreams. She says, When I was pregnant with Ali (radi Allahu anhu), some bright people came to me and gave me glad tidings, and for as long as he was in womb, I felt very different, and whenever I intended to prostrate before the idols, I would have a severe pain in my stomach. In this way, I could not prostrate to any idol. [Masaalikus Saalikeen]
He was born on a Friday according to some narrations, on the 13 of Muharram and according to other narrations, on the 13 of Rajab, 30 years after the incident of Feel. He was born inside the Holy Kaaba, and none has been blessed with this excellence before him. [Noorul Absaar]. His mother says, When he was born, he did not drink milk for three days, and this, caused great sadness in my home. This message reached Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). The Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) arrived and took Sayyiduna Ali (radi Allahu anhu) in his blessed arms and showed great love to him. He then placed his tongue in the mouth of Sayyiduna Ali (radi Allahu anhu). Hazrat Ali suckled on the tongue of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) and then started to drink milk. When Hazrat Ali (radi Allahu anhu) was five years old, the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) kept him at his blessed home and took care of him. He was thus groomed in the home of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) until he was ten years old.
About Him: Ibn As'ad says that all the people of Madinah to the oath of allegiance at the hands of Hazrat Ali (radi Allahu anhu). The discussion on the Khilafat of Hazrat Ali (radi Allahu anhu) is very in-depth and can not be explained here. More information can be found in the book Tareekhul Khulafa by Allama Jalaludeen Suyuti (radi Allahu anhu). Hazrat Ali's (radi Allahu anhu) Khilafat lasted for 4 years 8 months and 9 days. Wisaal: Hazrat Ali (radi Allahu anhu) passed away on the 21st of Ramadaan from the severe injury caused by the attack on him. He passed away at the age of 63
5. Anas Ibn Malik (Radi Allahu Ta'ala):
Name: His name was Anas.
About Him: He is that personality who spent much of his time in the blessed service of the Beloved Rasool (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) and his mother Umme Saleem (radi Allahu anha) is amongst the exalted Sahabiyah of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). He was ten years old, when Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) arrived in Madinatul Munawwarah. The Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) used to address him as Abu Hamza.
Once, he dug a well, and found that the water was salty. He informed the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) of this. The Beloved Rasool (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) placed his blessed saliva in the well. The blessing of this was that the water from the well of Hazrat Anas (radi Allahu anhu) became sweeter than that of any other well in Madinatul Munawwarah.
He fought in eight battles alongside the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). He narrated two thousand two hundred and eighty six Hadith.
Wisaal: He lived for more than 100 years, and passed away in the year 93 A.H.
6. Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (Radi Allahu Ta'ala):
Name: He is a beloved companion of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). His actual name was Sa'ad ibn Maalik.
Title: He was known as Abu Saeed.
About Him: He fought in twelve battles with the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). He joined the ranks of the Sahaba-e-Kiraam during the Battle of Uhud, but was returned because he was still very young. His beloved father was made shaheed in the Battle of Uhud. Hazrat Ibn Umar (radi Allahu anhu) also narrated various Ahadith from him.
Wisaal: He passed away in Madinatul Munawwarah in either 64 or 74 Hijri.
7. Hazrat Abu Huraira(Radi Allahu Ta'ala):
Name: There are numerous narrations about his name, but one narration says that his name was Abdur Rahmaan.
Title: Abu Hurairah
About Him: He is a well known companion of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). Narrations explain that he was known as Abu Hurairah (Father of Kittens), because he always kept a kitten with him. One narration says that once he had a kitten in his sleeve and the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) saw this and called him Abu Hurairah. He spent all or most of his time in the Court of Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). His mother was against Islam initially, but later accepted Islam through the Duaa of Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). From Amongst the Sahaba-e-Kiraam, the most Ahadith are narrated from him. Initially, he had a very weak memory. He informed the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) of this. Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) asked him to place his shawl on the ground. The Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) then placed his hands into his shawl twice and asked him to place the shawl to his chest. From this day on, he never forgot any Hadith. He narrated 5374 Ahadith of which 305 have been recorded by both Bukhari and Muslim.
Wisaal: Even though he spent most of his time learning Hadith, he prayed 1000 rakaats of nafil daily. He always made the following dua, O Allah, I ask refuge from the year 60 Hijri and the rule of boys. His dua was accepted and he passed away in the year 59 Hijri, one year before the Rule of Yazeed Paleed.
8. Hazrat Ubaada Bin Saamit (Radi Allahu Ta'ala):
Name: Ubaadah bin Saamit
About Him: Hazrat Ubaadah bin Saamit (radi Allahu anhu) accompanied the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) during all the Battles. Hazrat Umar-e-Farouk (radi Allahu anhu) appointed him first as the Qaadhi of Palestine. Later, He was appointed the Qaadhi of Syria. He was a very handsome, tall and pious personality. He was a great Aalim and Buzroog. Hazrat Ubaadah bin Saamit (radi Allahu anhu) narrated one hundred and eighty Hadith of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). There is only one companion of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) by the name Ubaadah bin Saamit, but there were twelve other companions by the names Ubaadah.
Wisaal: He journeyed towards Palestine and then passed away at the year 24 Hijri.
9. Hazrat Sa'ad Ibn Waqqas (Radi Allahu Ta'ala):
Name: His name was Maalik bin Wuhaib.
Titles: His was known as Abu Ishaaq.
About Him: He is also related in family to the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). Once he presented himself in the Court of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) and the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said, This is my maternal Uncle. Has anyone seen such an uncle? He is either the fifth or seventh person to accept Islam. He was wither fourteen or seventeen years of age when he accepted Islam. He is from amongst the Ashara Mubasharah (Those twelve personalities to whom the Prophet sallal laahu alaihi wasallam gave glad tidings of Jannat whilst they were on earth). He is also from amongt the first persons to make Hijrat (migrate). He migrated before the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). He was present in all the Battles. He was one of the fourteen companions of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) who stood as a shield in front of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) in the Battle of Uhud. He was a brilliant archer. During the Battle of Uhud, the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) passed arrows to him and said, O Sa'ad! Continue firing arrows. May my parents be sacrificed for you. This statement of love which the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) mentioned to him was a unique statement that Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) only mentioned to him, Hazrat Talha and Hazrat Zubair ridwaanullahi ta aala alaihim ajmaeen. He is the first person to fire an arrow for Islam and he was the first person to kill an enemy of Islam.
Wisaal: He passed away either in the year 55 or 57 Hijri at the age of more than seventy.
10. Hazrat Jaabir (Radi Allahu Ta'ala):
Name: His name is Jaabir (radi Allahu anhu)
About Him: His father was also a companion of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) and was made shaheed during the Battle of Uhud. The Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) loved Hazrat Jaabir (radi Allahu anhu) dearly. He was an expert in memorising the Hadith of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). He narrated one thousand five hundred and forty Hadith of which twenty six are in Bukhari and one hundred and twenty six are in Muslim Shareef. There are two other Sahaba with the exception of him who had the name Jaabir bin Abdullah. One was Jaabir bin Abdullah Raabisi, the other was Jaabir bin Abdullah Rubaan and he was Jaabir bin Abdullah Hiraam. There are also another twenty three (23) Sahaba-e-Kiraam with the names Jaabir.
Wisaal: He passed away at the age of ninety four (94) in Madinatul Munawwarah.
